Brittany Carr, LCDP

My name is Brittany Carr and I am a Licensed Substance-Use Counselor, Expressive Arts Facilitator, and Reiki Practitioner. I am an advocate for utilizing energy healing and holistic alternatives to help individuals access undiscovered emotions and reconnect with their authentic self. I have personally experienced the profound transformations that can be fostered by utilizing Creative & Expressive Arts practices. This has motivated me to incorporate these modalities into my counseling sessions. I have found that counseling, reiki, and expressive arts practices complement each other in dynamic and powerful ways that promote individuals to access, release, and transform their personal struggles into lasting healing.

My mission is to create a safe container where all individuals; regardless of age, experience with art, time spent in therapy, or “diagnosis;” can gain access to a purposeful means to find healing. What excites me about the Creative & Expressive Arts is that the modality is so rich, accessible, and transformative. An exercise that seems so seamless and simple, allows you to gain a great insight into yourself that may otherwise have taken months to access in traditional talk therapy. The exercises that can be provided as “homework” or facilitated in an individual session or a small group workshop setting, can allow you to look inward and discover pieces of yourself that you may have never accessed through other forms of therapy. The Creative & Expressive Arts is a treasured gem in this way because it allows you to feel empowered and in control of your healing process, through using the modalities of visual imagery, sound, movement, and expressive theater. You are able to find these discoveries and learnings – rather than being informed by a provider/therapist of these aspects of yourself. Within the Creative & Expressive Arts you are the expert when it comes to your life, you are driving the ship, you are the brave pioneer of your journey to find healing. As your facilitator, I will be here to support you, offer you encouragement, and hold space for you so that you feel seen, heard, and safe as you reconnect with your authentic self.

Creative & Expressive Arts therapy allows you to look at and connect with the world in a pure and honest way that gives life more meaning. It gives you the tools to access and give language to your emotions that went without a voice for too long. Once you begin practicing this work, you find yourself more grounded, genuine, and at peace. It is for these reasons that I aspire to share this work with others, so they can find the many treasures and gifts that I did and an opportunity to transform into a new you.

Brittany currently accepts NHP, Optum and United, as well as self pay clients. She sees clients in our Warwick office as well as via telehealth.
